Enjoy Chocolate, Help Children, and Support Hollie … All At the Same Time
Walden Farms Toffee & Fudge of Hollie’s home town of McKinney, TX are making and selling chocolate “Hollie Pops,” with a portion of proceeds going toward Hollie’s chosen beneficiary, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A Hollie Pop costs $3.50 in which $1.50 will go to St. Jude.
“Hollie is wonderful on [American Idol], and we’re thrilled she supports the kids of St. Jude,” said Sarah Newman, St. Jude public relations manager.
“We just wanted to help support Hollie locally and bring more awareness in the community of what she’s doing, and most of all, use that to benefit others,” said Brenda Walden, owner of the McKinney-based company and maker of the first Hollie Pops batch. “St. Jude came up, and Hollie didn’t even have to think about it. It rolled right off her tongue.”
“Hollie and her family would like to take this opportunity to thank Brenda Walden…for supporting Hollie in her quest to become the next American Idol,” said Hollie’s father, Pete Cavanagh. “In doing so, Brenda has also helped tremendously in promoting awareness of Hollie’s favorite charity.”
“Her fans all over the nation can purchase them,” Walden said. “Her generosity for using her notoriety to support St. Jude and give back, that speaks volumes of the quality of person she is.”
